A hot air balloon flight at sunrise is one of the most peaceful and spectacular things you can do near Marrakech. Before the city wakes, you are collected from your riad and driven north through the Palmeraie toward the launch field. You watch the crew inflate the balloon — fabric rising against the pre-dawn sky — then step into the basket and lift off in near silence. For 45 to 60 minutes you drift over the Haouz Plain with the High Atlas turning pink on the horizon, Berber villages, olive groves, and red-earth farmland unfolding below. Most flights end with a traditional breakfast and a commemorative certificate — a bucket-list morning that guests still talk about years later.

How your experience unfolds
Before dawn (approx. 5:00–5:30 AM) — Private pickup from your accommodation while Marrakech is still quiet. Drive through the Palmeraie toward the countryside launch field.
On the field — Welcome tea while the crew prepares the envelope. Watch the burners fire and the balloon rise — many guests say this is an unexpected highlight of the morning.
Sunrise flight (45–60 min) — Gentle ascent with only the occasional whoosh of the burner. Photograph the Atlas, the outline of Marrakech, distant Agafay stone desert, and patchwork farmland. Your licensed pilot chooses altitude and route based on wind conditions.
After landing — Celebrate with a traditional breakfast (often under a Berber tent), receive your flight certificate, and return to your riad by mid-morning — the rest of the day is still yours to explore.
