As your caravan crosses the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga — or the rocky Agafay desert outside Marrakech — the light turns the sand to copper and gold. How your experience unfolds
Sunset ride (approx. 1.5 hours) — Meet your guide at the edge of the dunes (typically one hour before sunset). Mount your dromedary and ride across soft sand to a high viewpoint. Dismount for photos as the sky shifts from gold to deep orange and purple. Return to Merzouga village by camel or 4×4.
Overnight desert camp — Continue after sunset to a Berber or luxury camp between the dunes. Enjoy tagine or couscous dinner, campfire music, and stargazing with zero light pollution. Wake before dawn for an optional sunrise trek back across the dunes.
From Marrakech (Agafay) — For shorter itineraries we arrange Agafay desert camel rides with sunset views of the Atlas — ideal as a half-day add-on without driving to Merzouga.
